How to assign a macro to a key

  1. Go to the Tools menu and select Keymaps
  2. In the Display Commands for Category area, select Macro
  3. Select the macro you wish to assign to a key
  4. Click on the Press New Shortcut Key box
  5. Press the desired key on your keyboard (for example, F10) or combination of keys (for example, Ctrl+A)
  6. Click the “Assign” button
  7. Click the “OK” button to save your changes

How to assign a macro to a toolbar button

  1. Click the “User Tools” toolbar button; or, Go to the Tools menu, select User Tools, then select Assign
  2. In the Display Commands for Category area, select Macro
  3. Select the macro you with to assign to a toolbar button
  4. In the Select New User Tool dropdown, select the numbered tool slot you wish to use for this macro
  5. Click the “Assign Tool” button
  6. Click the “OK” button to save your changes. At this point, you can click the down arrow on the User Tools button to select & run that macro
  7. Go to the Tools menu and select Toolbar Editor
  8. Scroll until you find ToolsUserTools#, where # is the tool number you used for that macro
  9. Click and drag that button from the Toolbar Editor to the place on the toolbar where you want it to display

After editing a key mapping or your toolbar, it is a good idea to copy the Custom.Keymap.xml and Options.xml files from your Windows profile (for example, from {username}\AppData\Roaming\OCLC\Connex\Profiles\MyProfile) to another directory as a backup.
