Playaway View devices are generally cataloged as videorecordings, with the following exceptions.
Chief source of information
Use the player's label as the chief source of information. If there isn't a label, prefer the most comprehensive title for the set, which will usually be on the container. Use AACR2R 7.0B2 to determine the prescribed sources of information for each area of the description.

Variable fields
- Additional fixed fields (006)
- Add an 006 field for the electronic resource aspects.[3]

- Physical description fixed fields (007)
- Add one 007 field for the videorecording aspects, and another for the electronic resource aspects.[3]
007 vz*czazzs (For the videorecording aspects) 007 cz*cza|||||||| (For the electronic resource aspects)
007 ‡a v ‡b z ‡d c ‡e z ‡f a ‡g z ‡h z ‡i 007 ‡a c ‡b z ‡d c ‡e z ‡f a
- Publisher number (028)
- Record the publisher's videorecording number in an 028 field. Watch out for original cataloging done by Playaway themselves, as the indicators will usually be wrong.
028 40 PV000012‡bPlayaway View
- Place of publication and publisher (260 ‡a and ‡b)
- Transcribe data for the Playaway publisher. Transcribe in a note any information related to previous publications in other formats.
260 Solon, OH :‡bFindaway World,‡cc2011.
- Date of publication (260 ‡c)
- Use the most recent date found anywhere on the player or container. If there are two copyright dates, use only the most recent.

300 1 video media player (115 min.) :‡bdigital, sd., col. ;‡c3 1/4 x 4 1/4 in.[7][8] +‡e1 power adapter.[9][10]
- System requirements note (538)
538 Playaway View.
- Source of title note (500)[11]
500 Title from Playaway View label.
500 Title from container.
- Performers & Credits(511, 508)
- Include notes for performers/narrators or production crew/credits notes when this information can be easily ascertained.
- You can hold down the "next chapter" button to fast forward through a title sequence (when there is one) and then to the end of a segment in order to check if there are any credits, then press the "play" button to pause the display. (The pause symbol will appear briefly across much of the screen, but it vanishes pretty quickly.) Press the "play" button again to resume normal play speed.
- Publication note (500)
500 Issued on Playaway View, a dedicated video media player.
- Original publication note (500)
- Transcribe data related to any previous publications in different formats in a note.[12]
500 Previously released by Schlessinger Media, c2004.
500 Previously released as individual titles by Sesame Workshop, [1995-2003].
500 Previously released by PBS Distribution, c2011. 500 Originally aired as 4 episodes of the television program, Super why.
- Physical description note (500)
- Since these devices do not require AA batteries and do not require a power cord to play, include a note about the power source.
500 Powered by rechargable battery.
- Since the device includes both a speaker and a headphone jack, there is no need to include a note that headphones are not necessary for audio playback.
- Summary (520)
- Since it is a videorecording, always include a summary.[13]
- The 520 field is repeatable, so items that collect material that was originally published separately may either have one summary note for the entire item or a separate summary note for each piece.
- Contents (505)
- Since most Playaway View devices contain multiple videos, list each in a contents note. If the playing time of each is given, also include that information.[14]
505 00 ‡tRock & roll‡g(30 min.) --‡tMonster hits‡g(30 min.) --‡tSing along‡g(30 min.) --‡tSing yourself silly‡g(30 min.).
- Genre headings (655)
- There is no specific genre/format heading for Playaway View devices.
- Include any genre headings that are relevant to the content, such as
Children's television programs
.
- Added entries (710)
- Since the records will usually have title main entry, include an added entry for the publisher and the company responsible for creating the content
710 2 Sesame Workshop. 710 2 Findaway World, LLC.
- Analytic entries (740)
- Since the contents of these devices were typically previously released in another format, include analytic entries for each item in the contents note, so that browse and exact searches for those titles can retrieve all formats.
740 02 Sing yourself silly!
