Local exceptions, guidelines, and reminders for cataloging software and computer games, including CD-ROMs, DVD-ROMs, and video games.
- Physical description fixed field (007)
- Code the fifth position (007 ‡e in OCLC)

- Publish numbers or Platform number (024/028)
- Record platform numbers in either the 024 or 028 field. When using the 028, the indicators should be 5 and 2. OLAC's recommended practice is to record platform numbers that are not associated with a publisher in the 024 field with a first indicator of 8 to indicate an unspecified number or code. Either field is allowable in the CCS catalog.
- Examples:
028 52 30197‡bKonami 024 8 RVL-RMKE-USA-BO‡q(label) 024 8 RVL P RMKE USZ‡q(container)
- Stock number (037)
- Record stock numbers and similar alphanumeric designations in an 037 field, with the associated distributor in ‡b.
- Example:

- Edition (250)
- Transcribe the video game platform in the edition statement. If the item also has a formal edition statement, follow the standard rules for multiple edition statements; generally put the formal edition statement first, followed by the video game platform. If the item's container states "PlayStation VR," include both the platform and PlayStation VR in the edition statement. If an item is compatible with more than one platform, like XBOX One and XBOX Series X, include both platforms in the 250 field. If an upgrade disc is required to make a disc compatible with a different system, like a PS4 game that can be upgraded for PS5, do not include both platforms in the 250 field.
- Examples:
250 Xbox 360. 250 Legendary edition, PS4. 250 PS4, PlayStation VR. 250 Xbox One, Xbox series X.
- System requirements (538)
