Until "Anime" is established as a legitimate LCSH or GSAFD heading (even if only locally), it cannot be used. There is a cross-reference in our catalog from this term to the allowed headings.
It is acceptable to use the local genre heading in the CCS database:

Note that <code>ANIME</code> is a legitimate value for Sirsi [[item category 1]], so if that was used, holdings could be found in a Workflows search.

Anime is neither a Library of Congress subject heading nor a genre heading. Use as appropriate for the item:

655 _0 Animated television programs ‡z Japan (form heading for anime TV shows from Japan)
655 _0 Animated films ‡z Japan (form heading for anime films from Japan)
650 _0 Animation (Cinematography) ‡z Japan (topical heading for works about anime)

It is acceptable to use the local genre heading in the CCS database:

655 _7 Anime. ‡2 local

Note that ANIME is a legitimate value for Sirsi item category 1, so if that was used, holdings could be found in a Workflows search.
