- An iteration replaces the entire resource, with or without a new edition statement
- Simultaneous versions exist, with differences between them that for any other resource would warrant a separate record. (Edition, parallel title, dimensions, etc.)
- Corporate body when used as a qualifier in a uniform title (LCRI 21.3B)
- Physical format (LCRI 21.3B)
- A significant change in scope.
