An e-Book reader (that is, the physical equipment) is cataloged following the rules for creating a generic record, with these exceptions:

Records are entered in the MARC format for visual materials (VM).

The record must have these fixed field element values:

Rec_Type: r (three-dimensional object)
Bib_Lvl: m (issued as a single item)
Type: r (three-dimensional object)

The General Material Designation (GMD) for e-Book readers in CCS is [electronic equipment]

If the reader is not cataloged in WorldCat, the record must include a 945 field with the contents ‡b OCLC DO NOT SET
