An e-Book reader (that is, the physical equipment, such as a Kindle, Nook, or other tablet computer) is cataloged following the rules for creating a [[generic record]] (such as using a Title Control Number of x, the library's [[Library codes|3-letter code]], and a unique identifier, e.g. <code>xEAKNOOK003</code>), with these exceptions:

Information in other fields may be supplied if available.
 
Use the form/genre heading for e-Book readers, "655 _0 Electronic book readers."  If your device is pre-loaded with e-Books, then also add a form/genre heading of "655 _0 Electronic books."
 
If the reader is not cataloged in WorldCat, the record must include a 945 field with the contents <code>&Dagger;b OCLC DO NOT SET</code>
