Temporary record
From Ccslib.org
A temporary record is a brief MARC record that is not intended to be in the database for long.
The primary use of temporary records is for items which come up as "not on file" at the circulation desk; staff can create a temporary record and link the item's barcode to it so that it can be checked out to a waiting patron. Records created for this purpose are also called "c-fly" records (short for "converted on the fly"), as that was the term the Geac Libs+ system used for such records.
A second use of temporary records is for ILL material received from libraries outside of CCS.
