Unique local materials, such as annual school budgets, minutes of local boards, etc. are part of most libraries' collections. While bibliographic access is required for these kinds of materials, cataloging them in WorldCat is optional for the local library.

Use the following guidelines when you do not wish to catalog these materials in WorldCat.

Variable Fields

1xx x_ Author
Include if applicable; use the appropriate tag, indicators and subfields. Also, use the Validate Headings helper to make sure the form of name is consistent with any we might already have in the database; if no match is found, enter the name as fully as your chief source provides it.
245 1x Title
Enter the title as completely as your source gives it. Be sure the non-filing indicator in this tag is correct. If the record is a title main entry, with no author, the first indicator should be 0.
264 Publ
Include subfields "a", "b" and "c", if applicable.
300 Desc
Provide a full description--subfields "a", "b" and "c", if applicable.
6xx _x Subject
Use current and appropriate LC subject headings(s); and/or use local subject headings (tag 690, or in some cases 655 7 ‡2local).
7xx Added entries
Include if applicable.
