Add Awards notes in the MARC 586 field as directed in Bibliographic Formats and Standards. This note becomes another access point in the bibliographic record.
Libraries are encouraged to add this note when an award winner is announced if it is not already in the bibliographic record.
To save time and space, only the most important awards under each category should be cited. Cite only award winners, not nominees who did not win.
These well-known awards are recommended for this field. Other awards may be added at cataloger's discretion.
