Literary Form

The Content facet in BiblioCore is populated by the Literary Form fixed field in a bibliographic record (008 position 33). The Database Management Committee reviewed recommendations from CCS regarding how this fixed field works with BiblioCore. The Committee voted to continue to require the completion of the Literary Form field, while lifting the requirement that Novels are coded as Fiction. BiblioCore concept facet mapping (fiction/nonfiction) incorporates the literary form fixed field values, as well as additional bibliographic and item data such as call numbers and subject/genre headings.
